With sincere thanks to everyone who entered the 2010 Wine Country ‘Ukulele Festival poster design contest, we are very pleased to announce the winner: Katherine (Healy) Moritz. We always underestimate how difficult it is each year to pick just one image that will represent the festival for the upcoming year, especially when we receive so many very good ones. In the end it comes down to which one we think is going to stop people in their tracks and take a look. . . . .that and we loved the way Katherine subtly intermingled the coconut palms of Hawaii with the grapevines of the Napa Valley. Congratulations Katherine, we’re sure you will enjoy your new ukulele from Sonny D.
And for the rest of you, if graphic design is not your thing, don’t worry. There are more contests to come and more opportunities to win an ‘ukulele for singing, playing, producing…you name it.
And speaking of winners, a very hearty congratulations goes out to the Hula Honeys, Ginger Johnson and Robyn Kneubuhl, winners of this year’s presitigious Na Hoku Hanohano award for Jazz Album of the Year: “Girl Talk”. Both Robyn and Ginger will be at the Wine Country ‘Ukulele Festival this year, teaching workshops, appearing on the Rhine House Stage, and performing at the Flora Springs Luau on Saturday, September 10. But if you can’t wait ’til September, you really should treat yourself to one of their CD’s for a little pre-festival inspiration.
Also, please take a moment to check out our newest sponsor/vendor, Oceana ‘Ukuleles. You may remember them from last year’s festival. We’re so happy they’re coming back…all the way from Port Orchard, Washington!
And don’t forget to plan on being here Friday night (September 10) for a very special concert with James Hill and friends. We will be posting the details, along with prices, soon. So please stay tuned. . .
